Flashback Review: 2002 Jaguar “X308” XJ Sport, a bittersweet experience

But an unsuccessful series of events occurred, and as a result, the “Benz” was sent to a skyscraper in the notorious sky. Naturally, many of you probably thought that I immediately chose the E320 Coupe or at least another Benz from the same period. But since the late W124 E320 coupe bodies were produced in very small quantities compared to his four-door brother, a good example with low mileage and a clean example similar to the one I had is very difficult to find, especially at the price I purchased. behind. Given that some time limits were common, I impulsively bought the 2002 Jaaaaaaaaaag 2002 “X308” XJ8 Sport or “XJ Sport” after a long study. Right away, many of you must be thinking that I might have bitten off a little more than I could chew. Yes, I did … So here is the story.

Jaguar had a very rude history as they moved from creating some of the most elite cars in the world to creating the worst in history solely because of their problematic reliability. For quite some time, and to this day, Jaguar has been the purchasing word “service nightmare” and a “pocket evaporator”, especially after the merger of British Leyland peers in the 1970s. Despite this, Jaguar certainly made cars that looked great, were tastefully crafted and driven like the Monica Bellucci monster swimming in a Bavarian cream pool. But after the tumultuous 1970s and 1980s that were owned and operated by British Leyland, the small (compared to competitors) small company Coventry was bought out by the Ford Motor Company, ironically.

Now some people think that it was a terrible and terrible mistake, and this led to the death of the company. But in truth, Ford has done a great job rescuing a battered brand. In fact, the Jaguar would not be where they are now without them. Ford has provided Jaguar with millions of dollars so that Jaguar can independently design and design its cars to stay traditional for its roots. And the car I bought to replace the Mercedes was one of many cars built with Ford money that actually helped maintain Jaguar’s miserable reputation.

But before I continue, I have to figure out one very big fallacy between Ford ownership of the Jaguar. I must emphasize that Ford has done very little to provide in terms of actual physical parts for the X300 XJ (1994-1997) and X308 XJ (1997-2003). The X308, like its predecessor, the X300, does not contain any real Ford parts and was developed by Jaguar from scratch.
